Photographer Bio
Richard has been an avid photographer for over 40 years, photographing many landscapes across the United States and Canada. Many of his photographs taken in Hopewell Township have been displayed in local contests and exhibits, as well as published in newsletters, newspapers and magazines.
Richard’s photographs have appeared in the Mercer County Photography Show at the Mercer County Community College and the “Avenue of the Arts” fund raiser for the West Windsor Arts Council. His photograph “The Lower Falls and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone” received an honorable mention in the 2009 Mercer County show. His photographs have also been chosen for the front covers of Hopewell Township's municipal calendar, and in promotional literature for the calendar's annual photography contest.
During a Great American Photography Weekend workshop conducted by noted landscape photographer, the late Galen Rowell, one of Richard’s compositions earned an honorable mention.
He also has an interest in wildlife photography, especially of shore birds. His photograph of a great white egret won “Best of Show” in a juried competition on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
For over the past ten years, Richard has volunteered for the D&R Greenway by photographing the Greenway’s Gala and promotional events. The most recent event was the dedication of the new barn at the St. Michaels Farm Preserve in Hopewell, NJ. He has had photographs in previous D&R Greenway Gala art fundraisers, and in the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association’s art shows. In addition, the D&R Greenway and The Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space (FOHVOS) have periodically featured his photographs in their newsletters.
Accounting and hospitality management had been the main focus of Richard's business career. In June of 2017, Richard moved back to Canada after 50 years in the United States. His father's career brought him down to the States. Stand by for new images (maybe a Loon or Moose) to be posted to this site.
